I have kept Romanyshyn’s book The Wounded Researcher: Research with Soul in Mind close as I am often moved to re-read chapters. I recently re-read Chapter 13 Towards an Ethical Epistemology which requires researchers, all thinking/feeling persons, to examine their personal Shadows. This new epistemology demands that we examine how our personality impacts our research/writing projects. We are all ‘wounded researchers’ and understanding these ‘wounds’ is a given. In this effort, we are helped by considering the Frankenstein story, which Mary Shelley started writing at 18 and published anonymously at 20 – what imagination!
After an enjoyable evening of watching the Frankenstein movie and the Shelley documentary, we examine Romanyshyn’s work in The Frankenstein Prophecies, which addresses his work on Global Warming. This requires deep thinking on the fact that we have created a modern-day Frankenstein in President Donald Trump! How are we going to deal with this monstrous creation – this is our drama now unfolding “inside America and the Trump Administration”. Sweet Dreams!
